The Roundtable on God and Science provides a rare opportunity for scholars from the Five Colleges to join together to discuss religious issues in an increasingly secular culture.  Faculty are personally invited to three-hour dinners to discuss the intersection of contemporary academic thought and Christian thought on issues related to science, art and religion.  Rather than passively attending lectures with modest Q & A sessions, the Roundtables seek active, high quality participation with presenters from around the world who have written about the religious issues of the day.  To date, hundreds of faculty have engaged in Roundtable faculty seminar dinner discussions, and have experienced the potential to bring added depth to their work as scholars and
educators. The Roundtable does not expect faculty participants to be aligned with any particular religious or non-religious perspective, and the result has been that a wide diversity of views are represented. Past presenters include: Charles Freeman, author of "The Closing of the Western Mind"; Stephen Prothero, author of best-selling, "Religious Literacy"; Michael Behe, author of "Darwin's Black Box"; Naomi Schaefer Riley, Deputy Taste Editor
of The Wall Street Journal and author of "God on the Quad"; the Rev. Dr. Sir John Polkinghorne, Fellow of the Royal Society, former President of Queens' College, Cambridge, and author of numerous books on science and religion that won for him the Templeton Prize; and Jean Bethke Elshtain, American political philosopher and author of "Just War Against Terror".
